Scott has close to 20 years’ experience as a finance academic. Prior to joining the University of Queensland Business School in 2005 he worked at QUT and USQ. During this time he has taught across many different courses with a focus on International Finance and Financial Management. He has also taught corporate finance, investments, risk management and more. Scott has taught in numerous modes including face-to-face, distance, and on-line in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, in and outside of Australia. He also has extensive experience in executive education facilitating programs for government organisations and private sector companies in the area of financial management. In the last 5 years he has been involved in many executive education programs run through the UQBS executive education as both the course co-ordinator and guest presenter. These programs have been run for staff with varying levels of financial acumen, from managers who are new to the area and seeking to understand the essentials, through to higher level material for finance staff wanting to refresh and further develop their skills.

In his time at the UQBS Scott has moved from the traditional academic role of teaching and research into a teaching focus position. This means he now concentrates on ensuring students receive the best possible educational experience. This is achieved by implementing innovative seminars and assessment that provide challenging, yet rewarding outcomes for students. He also mentors new academic staff as they begin their teaching careers and disseminates his work on teaching skills to the finance cluster and the wider community. Scott recently completed the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education through UQ.
