Ambar finished her graduate study at Gadjah Mada University in 1999, and her master of sociology at the same university in 2006. She is a lecturer in Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Science and Humanity, State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta Indonesia. She is the first Indonesian Google Policy Research Fellow 2012. She conducted a research about the adoption of ICT innovation by small-medium businesswomen in Yogyakarta and Central Java.
