UQ Business School students to compete in international trading competition

UQ Business School Honours students compete in Rotman International Trading Competition Four UQ Business School students will compete with the best student traders around the world at the Rotman International Trading Competition in Canada this weekend. Hosted by the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, the competition features simulated trading cases that challenge students by engaging them in competitive trading, risk management, and analytical scenarios. Commerce Honours students Alexandra Dwyer (of New Farm), Jeremy Evans (St Lucia), Tom Lawler (Graceville), and Sarah Thorne (Taringa) are well prepared for the competition according to Team Manager Dr Jason Hall. "We now have a licence for the same software used in the competition so the team has been able to prepare thoroughly," he said. Dr Hall said this year the students would be up against teams from the likes of Harvard and MIT in the US, City University, London, and the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). "In 2009, the UQ Business School team placed 11th overall and achieved a brilliant third place in the challenging sales and trader case," he said. UQ Business School's team's best performance to date was sixth place overall in the 2007 competition.
