UQ Business School is celebrating the success of two of its professors after they were recently awarded a Citation of Excellence by Emerald Management Reviews – one of the highest accolades that an author can receive.

Professor Iris Vessey’s article, “Toward improving the relevance of information systems research to practice: the role of applicability checks,” and Professor Peter Clarkson’s article entitled, “Revisiting the relation between environmental performance and environmental disclosure: an empirical analysis,” were among the 50 articles cited as “exceptional” for 2012, from a database of 300,000+ article abstracts from the top 300 management publications worldwide.

Their articles were judged based on a two-tiered assessment: the number of citations received by each article abstracted for Emerald Management Reviews since publication in 2008 (three years of accumulative data is required), and a final appraisal by an editorial judging panel which evaluated the articles based on research impact.

Andrew Griffiths, Dean of UQ Business School, said: “These awards are a demonstration of UQ Business School’s commitment to being at the fore in internationally recognised and valued research. Receiving a Citation of Excellence is a truly prestigious achievement and we congratulate Professor Vessey and Professor Clarkson on their success.”

In acknowledgement of their achievement, Professor Vessey, a Professor of Information Systems; and Professor Clarkson, a Professor of Accounting, will each receive a Citation of Excellence logo to display on their work.
