Conference to give exciting buzz to business

9 Jun 2009
More than 400 school students will get a taste of the business world at UQ Business School's Buzz with Business event at Ipswich next week. The Grade 10 students will be introduced to contemporary business issues including social entrepreneurship, legal issues, online business and communication, and accounting. Presenting on the day will be industry leaders, entrepreneurs, representatives of accreditating bodies like the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and academics who will all share their insights on contemporary business issues and topics. Event organiser Trisha Barbour said students would also be challenged to think outside the box in exploring the world of opportunities available to them when considering a career in business. Program director for the Bachelor of Business Professor Peter Green, said he was delighted with the response for this year's event. "This is the fifth year we have hosted Buzz with Business and it has grown each year to be one of our most successful calendar events," he said. "16 high schools from across all regions of Brisbane and Ipswich will be coming, which highlights the value of the conference to both the students and teachers."
