MBA Think and Drink

6 October, 2017 - 17:15 to 19:30
Stamford Plaza Brisbane, Corner of Edward Street & Margaret Street, Brisbane QLD 4000

The MBA Career Resource Centre invites you to attend an interactive Think & Drink session exploring 'Why Organisations Need Both Soldiers and Scouts' on Friday, 6 October 2017 with acclaimed presenter Graeme Innes AM.

Graeme Innes is a lawyer, author, and company director. He has been a human rights practitioner for more than 30 years and was a Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission for almost nine years, responsible for issues relating to disability, race and human rights.

Graeme will speak on the whipper-snipper principle of organisational theory. Based on a study of the Dreyfus case, he will demonstrate how successful organisations need both soldiers - who will follow the party line, be defensive and supportive of current policies; and scouts - who will value curiosity and the acquisition of information which may show that they are wrong. Just like whipper-snippers, effective organisations are noisy, smelly and difficult.

This is an exclusive event for UQ Business School MBA students and alumni. Please ensure you register your attendance by Friday, 29 September as places are limited.
