Marketing Summit Workshop
UQ Business School is pleased to host the 2018 Marketing Summit Workshop on Sunday 20 May 2018.
In addition to this year’s summit, Professor Rod Brodie, a world-class thought leader in developing marketing theory, will facilitate a workshop specifically for our HDR students and early career researchers.
PhD submissions are increasingly consisting of journal articles where one or more of the papers are conceptual. While many early career researchers have papers rejected due a weak theoretical contribution. The purpose of this interactive workshop is to prepare early career scholars for writing strong conceptual papers.
The following topics will be covered:
- Types of theory and theorizing
- Conceptual contributions
- Structure of conceptual papers
- Writing a conceptual paper (introduction, literature review, conceptual/ theoretical development, theoretical implications, research implications, managerial implications)
- How to write collaboratively

Rod Brodie is Professor in the Department of Marketing. He has published over 100 articles, many of which have appeared in the leading international journals which include Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Management Science, Journal of Service Research.
He is an associate editor for Marketing Theory and Journal of Service Research and has served on Editorial Boards of other leading journals which include Journal of Marketing, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and Journal of Academy of Marketing Science.
In 1998 he was the founding president of ANZMAC and in 2004 he was made one of the founding Fellows. In 2011 he was made a Fellow of EMAC.
