Corporate Education course
This course will enable managers to understand the basic functions of negotiating, how to communicate more effectively and how to maximize the chances of success in dealing with other parties, either in industry or government.
Designed to introduce models and theories of business communication and negotiation, this course focuses on the practice and application of specific negotiating skills in conflict resolution. The course includes a mixture of lectures, simulated negotiations, and exercises to acquaint participants with the latest and most effective theories and models of negotiation.

Dr Neil Paulsen is a Senior Lecturer in Organisation and Communication at UQ Business School. He has over 20 years industry experience as a successful senior manager and consultant in public, private, and community sector organisations. Neil's research includes the development of intergroup perspectives on organisational behaviour, change management, community engagement strategies, and innovation in teams. His research partners and clients include Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, CSIRO, Federal Magistrates Court, NZ Telecom and Queensland Health.
Neil is a registered psychologist and a member of various professional associations including the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management, the European Group for Organization Studies and the Australian Psychological Society.
Dr Yunxia Zhu is a Senior Lecturer in Strategy at UQ Business School. She has over 20 years tertiary teaching experience in Australia, New Zealand and China, as well as considerable industry consultancy experience for international business organisations. Yunxia's research interests include international human resource management, cross-cultural management, international business negotiation, organisational discourse study, ethnicity and entrepreneurship and Chinese organisational studies. She has written two books on business communication and training and has published extensively in international journals and book chapters.
