Profile:
Dongming Xu's research interests include technology-mediated learning, knowledge management, electronic commerce and business intelligence systems. Her research usually combines theoretical model building, laboratory and field experiments and the development of prototype systems. Currently she is working in the area of technology-mediated learning focusing on the use of advanced technologies in virtual learning environments and its impact on eLearning effectiveness. She is also studying the area of business intelligence systems on a variety of contexts, such as theoretical foundations, applications, and technologies, such as intelligent agents, data mining, etc. In particular, she is working on knowledge-based electronic money laundering monitoring systems, web-server-agent-based family wealth management systems, decision support systems for securities exception management, knowledge management systems and workflow management systems. Dongming's research has featured in Decision Support Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data engineering and Knowledge-Based Systems.
Dongming Xu is a member of Individual And Behavioural Information Systems, IT Artefact Research, Organisational Information Systems research group and Business Information Systems teaching group

Research Interests
- Field 1: Business intelligent systems
Research in this area focuses on business intelligence systems theoretical foundations, applications, and technologies, such as intelligent agents and data mining. Knowledge based business intelligence system is able to optimize business processes and resources, improve proactive decision making, and maximize profits and minimize costs. In particular, I am especially interested in financial monitoring systems, financial information systems, business process management systems, supply chain management systems etc. - Field 2: Technology-mediated learning
Research in this area focuses on the use of advanced technologies in virtual learning environments, the evaluation of eLearning technologies, and the impact on eLearning effectiveness. A particular interest of this research is personalization of virtual learning environment and its effects on eLearning effectiveness. - Field 3: Knowledge management systems
Knowledge management research is a natural and logical extension of my work in the area of technology-mediated learning, since learning is the process by which information is converted into knowledge. A particular interest of KM research is investigation of the role of information and communication technologies in development and implementation of knowledge strategies and the impact on organizational performance.
