Honours Entry Requirements

Qualifications

Places for honours are strictly limited and are competed for on the basis of academic merit.

To enrol for honours, a student must have an undergraduate degree with a GPA of at least 5.5.

Successful applicants must have completed:

  1. the Bachelor of Business, the Bachelor of Business Management, or the Bachelor of Commerce at The University of Queensland; or
  2. other UQ undergraduate degree; or
  3. qualifications from another institution, which in the opinion of the Executive Dean and the Head of School, are at least of the standard and content required by (1) above.

It is not possible to commence the Honours degree more than 2 academic years after the completion of the required pass degree, or equivalent qualification, unless the Executive Dean, after consultation with the Head of School, gives permission to do so. This permission will only be granted in special circumstances.

Note that though the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) required for admission to the Honours programs is 5.5 overall; high demand for entry to the Honours programs may result in the required GPA being higher. Some consideration will be given to applications with the required GPA in business related courses in the final two years of study. Each case is assessed on an individual basis.

International Students

In addition to the criteria noted in Qualifications above, it is necessary for international students to meet the English language requirements.
