In recent years, the capabilities of AI have advanced significantly, particularly with the advent of generative AI, which can create images, text, and music. These systems can also respond to queries by drawing on general knowledge or analysing specific documents. Despite these advancements, the reliability of AI has not kept pace. AI systems often produce errors such as fabricating facts, generating flawed images, causing vehicle accidents, and making simple mathematical mistakes, which can negatively impact stakeholders. In his presentation, Colin explores strategies to enhance the trustworthiness of AI systems. He also examines the intriguing aspects of behavioural science that explain how and when humans come to trust AI technologies.
