Welcome to the Responses to Wrongdoing in Organisations Study
Have you ever become aware of wrongdoing in your workplace? If so, then you know how upsetting it can be. Such behaviours may include bullying, intimidation, sexual harassment, discrimination, fraud, sabotage, theft, malpractice, and types of inappropriate behaviour. In this survey, we are interested in what people think about and how they feel following an episode of wrongdoing. All information that you provide is completely confidential and no identifying information will be collected. The survey should take around 15-20 minutes to complete.
Please note that this survey is designed to investigate the experiences of employees who observe or experience wrongdoing in their organisations, as well as employees who come across evidence of wrongdoing or hear about wrongdoing from others.
When completing this survey, we would like you to recall a single episode of wrongdoing that you became aware of within the last seven years. You will be asked to complete some general questions about wrongdoing itself, and the person who committed the act. Then you will be asked to rate your agreement with a series of statements about your thoughts about the wrongdoing. You will also be asked to indicate the emotions you felt at different time points.
In this survey, we use the term wrongdoing to refer to "Intentional employee behavior that is perceived to be illegal, immoral, or illegitimate in an organisational setting. The behavior must violate standards for appropriate behaviour and threaten the well-being of an organisation, its members, or both." Organisational members may include employees or clients/customers.
Additionally, we use the term management to refer to "any individual(s) in an organisation with the power and responsibility to respond to concerns about potential wrongdoing and effect appropriate action."
Before commencing the survey, we ask that you download a Participant Consent Form and Participant Information Sheet so that you are aware of the nature of the study and its benefits and risks.
