Management

The discipline areas that are included in the Management cluster include:

The research interests of cluster members include: managing diverse work groups, the leadership and communication of organisational change, organisational climate and culture, emotions in the workplace, intergroup and interpersonal communication, whistle-blowing and ethical behaviour, communication and ethics, public sector management and change leadership, the impact of shiftwork, workplace education and training, knowledge management and change, professional and organisational identities, gender issues in the workplace, labour force restructuring, downsizing and coping with change, superior-subordinate communication, the political economy of communication, organisational learning, public-private partnerships, and discourse analysis. Cluster members make use of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to complete mostly applied research in a variety of public and private sector organisations.

Currently funded ARC projects include studies of emotions in the workplace, organisational communication during change, the health and well-being of nurses doing shiftwork, emotional intelligence and teams in the workplace, and a large project into creating an accessible archive that meets the needs of Australian researchers, artists, entrepreneurs and the public.

Cluster members have individual entries on the web site, and we invite you to examine these sites to gain more detail about their individual research interests, areas of research supervision, and research publications. As can be seen, cluster members have published nationally and internationally in a wide range of high quality journals, including Academy of Management Executive; Academy of Management Journal; Academy of Management Review; Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin; Organisation Studies; Journal of Management; Journal of Organisational Behaviour; Gender and Society; British Journal of Industrial Relations; Journal of Occupational and Organisational Psychology; Discourse and Society; Human Relations; Harvard Business Review; and The Journal of Industrial Relations.

We are the first Australian business school to achieve dual accreditation from AACSB International and EQUIS.
