Investments and Funds Management

The investment funds industry has recently experienced massive growth world-wide, and all expectations are that there will be continued growth in this industry. The increasing complexity of financial markets, their securities and systems, calls for urgent research into investments and funds management to better understand, evaluates and manage risk in these investment vehicles.

Further, the large-scale globalisation of financial markets, integration of capital markets generally, increasing savings requirements by an aging population, and the introduction of more flexible choices in retirement saving, particularly in Australia, are all factors that have contributed to an increased need to improve on traditional portfolio management techniques.

Researchers in the program are currently involved in a number of projects funded by grants from the Australian Research Council and other funding sources.
