Vice President of SAP Research worldwide Professor Lutz Heuser visited UQ Business School (UQBS) on Friday 24 November to discuss opportunities to work together.
Leader of the UQBS business information systems department Professor Peter Green said the meeting was principally about Heuser's interest in UQBS PhD student Marissa Takahashi's joint research with SAP that started about 12 months ago.
He said, "Given the preliminary interest, we will be discussing ways to extend this work including different funding possibilities."
Takahashi explained that her PhD would investigate the relationship between research impact and knowledge transfer in ICT hi-tech project environments. She stated, "Research impact happens in the context of a knowledge transfer and innovation ecosystem."
"However, defining research impact for ICT hi-tech projects is problematic - it typically means different things to different stakeholders. So the initial part of the research is to identify projects for which a consistent picture of research impact can be obtained."
"Then I want to look at the role of knowledge transfer in the hi-tech ICT process and identify the knowledge transfer strategies that can enhance research impact."
"The outcomes of this research could be relevant to any organisation seeking to evaluate and enhance the impact of its ICT research."
