UQ Commerce / Law graduate Jenny Hutson was on Tuesday named Queensland Business Woman of the Year by Queensland Business Review.

Hutson is Managing Director of Wellington Capital, the merchant and investment bank she launched in 2005 after a successful career in the law.

She is a former partner and head of the corporate advisory group and the corporate division at McCullough Robertson Lawyers.

UQ Business School head Professor Tim Brailsford said the award was a tribute to her extraordinary business skills.

He said, "We feel very proud to count Jenny as one of our graduates."

Hutson is a director of a number of companies including chairperson of the ASX listed S8 Limited which is an integrated global travel company (and owner of Harvey World Travel).

"The School sponsors the business and financial services award and I'd like to congratulate category winner Debra Burden, CEO of Queensland Country Credit Union."

Launched in 2006, the Women in Business Awards aim to shine a light on the achievements of Queensland's leading business women.
