UQ Business School (UQBS) Downtown has been awarded a Queensland Architecture Award - Interiors for architects Bligh Voller Nield.
Awarded a regional commendation in the Brisbane awards in May by the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA), the UQBS facility occupies an entire floor of city landmark Central Plaza One.
The interior combines an educational environment with a corporate edge both aesthetically and functionally - to create a unique venue for academic and corporate programs and events.
The space includes a tiered lecture theatre, a fully flexible soft wired seminar room and two seminar rooms which open up to form one large space. A premium boardroom facility for 25 people is located adjacent to the reception area creating a unique space for functions with dramatic river and city views.
The Bligh Voller Nield fit-out successfully reflects the Business School's corporate leadership role while paying due tribute to its University of Queensland heritage.
Plenty of natural light and a focus on the venue's magnificent views are complemented by a careful blend of architectural openness and acoustic privacy.
The Bligh Voller Nield entry will now progress to the RAIA's national competition, which will be announced in Sydney on 27 October.
