Scott brings twenty years of diverse experience working in a variety of industries including logistics, utilities, manufacturing and defence. A graduate of both the Australian Defence Force Academy and the Royal Military College Duntroon, Scott's career started as a logistics officer within the Australian Army.
Scott's commercial experience includes roles with Comalco Smelting and as a management consultant with both SMS and DMR Consulting. Scott spent six years working within the utilities industry with both Energex and then Tarong Energy prior to joining QR's Senior Executive as the Chief Risk Officer in January 2005.
Scott became Head of Risk Management for Babcock & Brown's Specialised Funds in November 2006. As the Head of Risk Management, Scott provides leadership and executive oversight of risk management across the specialised funds and underlying operating assets such Babcock & Brown Power and Wind.
In June 2006, Scott was asked to lead Babcock & Brown's sustainability initiative, which has matured into the global sustainability program supported by an Executives Sustainability Committee with oversight over the following program priorities:
- Implementing an express Sustainability Policy & Framework
- Enhancing our health and safety systems reporting
- Beginning to more closely manage our GHG gas emissions & energy usage
- Developing an articulated carbon management strategy
- Reducing B&B's own direct adverse impacts on the environment, and
- Continuing to develop and expand our global community engagement program
In December 2007, Scott took on the role of Group Manager, Operating Assets with the responsibility for developing and delivering a consistent management framework for operating assets management capabilities throughout the asset lifecycle from concept to divestment.
Scott is also on the Advisory Panel of the Green Vision Fund, Industry Fellow of the University of Queensland Business School and Director of Extrophy Pty Ltd, a strategic performance coaching consultancy for businesses and individuals.
